“The beginning of wisdom is the definition of terms.”

― Socrates

Finding language for what we are experiencing is one of the most powerful things we can do towards understanding and addressing our challenges and getting unstuck. Giving name to the negative feelings and emotions from the failure experience does several things:
  1. It allows you to say the word out loud and feel it resonate as true,
  2. It enables you to objectify the emotion instead of be subject to the emotion, and
  3. It provides a starting point to seek out how to research and address the affects of the word.

There are over 34,000 words in the English language that can describe the emotions we experience, and while exploring the myriad of options to express oneself is a healthy way to regain one’s energy, research shows that there are consistent words that entrepreneurs use when they have experienced a failure. We have highlighted some of the most common words as a means to help identify which resonate with the experience you are having.
